Karen Tried to Steal My Parking Spot, So I Made Sure She Never Got Another One Again
  • 03
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears! I live in apartment complex where parking is a hot commodity. We all kind of follow an unspoken rule: if someone's waiting for a spot, you let them have it. Simple enough, right? Well, not if you're Karen.

One evening, I'm doing the usual post-work parking hunt, and after what feels like an eternity, I finally see someone about to pull out near my building. I've got my blinker on, patiently waiting for the spot. But just as I'm about to pull in, Karen zooms in out of nowhere, grabs the spot, and strolls off without a care. I honk, thinking maybe she didn't see me, but nope—she just gives me that classic Karen wave and disappears into the building like she did nothing wrong.

Now, I could've confronted her, but we all know how that ends. Karen's don't take well to being told they're wrong. So instead, I decided to handle things a little differently. Here's where it gets fun. I have a friend who works for the towing company that our complex uses. After venting to him about my little Karen problem, he tells me something interesting: Karen's car is technically over the line into a fire lane. Not by much, but enough to be a violation. So, the next day, he swings by, slap

You'd think that would teach her a lesson. But no, not Karen. A week later, she's back, and this time she's taking up two spaces like she's trying to stake her claim. I couldn't believe the nerve. So, I make another call. And yep, another tow. But this time, I decide to leave a little parting gift: a sticky note on her windshield that says, "Parking is a privilege, not a right."

Now, Karen's been banished to parking on the street. Every time she tries to park in the lot, she somehow ends up "accidentally" breaking another parking rule. Funny how that works. And ever since, Karen's been very quiet. No more smug waves, no more taking spots. Just Karen, being Karen, quietly parking down the street where she belongs.

TL;DR: Neighbor Karen stole my parking spot, so I got her car towed twice, leaving her no choice but to park on the street from now on. No more smug waves.

Perfectly mediocre I used to be a tow truck driver. You DEFINITELY don't want any of our smoke. I was headed to the shop after a long distance run and saw a buddy's car parked in front of the bar and I hooked it up and pulled around to the back of the building. Then I parked in front of the bar and waited for him to come out. The sight of him wandering befuddled looking for his ride still makes me laugh. We can break into any car, change your seat preference, turn your radio up as loud as it can

bg-j38 Something similar happened in my apartment building. We have like 180 units but maybe 40 parking spots. It's an old building that was originally a hotel. So the parking waiting list at its peak was a couple years, though it's dropped in recent years due to fewer people owning cars. It's fairly tight, but most people deal with it just fine. Except one guy who kept parking so close to the adjacent spot that the other car owner often had to get in on the passenger side. He'd left notes multi

Finally the guy getting parked in happens to be there when bad parker arrives and parks like an asshole again. He confronts him. Not really in a threatening way, but is like DUDE why are you incapable of parking? I've left you a dozen notes. Bad parker, as might be expected starts screaming at him that there's nothing wrong with what he's doing, that if he doesn't like it he should park somewhere else, basically incapable of taking any responsibility. The other guy is like "You're nuts and I'm g

How do I know that this is true? Well it was right by the security cameras and one of the building guards went down to see what was going on. So an eye witness account and video proof. This got building management moving and they quickly revoked his parking and gave him 48 hours to remove his vehicle or it would be towed. The building manager later told me that when the bad parker said he couldn't do this to him, manager said almost exactly the same thing. It's a privilege and not a right. Parki

anon_e_mous9669 Haha, nice work. This reminds me of a story of a guy I used to work with who lived in one of those high rise apartments with the parking garage underneath. Someone kept stealing his reserved/marked/paid for spot and after about the 5th time having to park in visitor parking or out on the street, he went to harbor freight and bought a set of 4 wheel dollies and put them in his trunk.

The next time the parking thief stole his spot, he called a couple of his neighbors who have had their spots stolen and got them to help and he lifted the offending car up on the wheel dollies and they pushed it slowly a few levels down between 2 pillars with about 6- 12 inches of room on either side so it was nearly impossible to get it out. He said it took 2 weeks for the car to move from that spot and in that time, it got like 10 tickets for parking in a no parking zone.

Hooligan_Sixx How would someone become friends with someone who works at a towing company I've had multiple instances where I'll almost hit someone's car when coming around a corner because they're parked literally right in front if fire lane signs. Parking at my apartments are also limited so they do this all the time, but all the complex does is put up more signs.

BoysenberryFree725 Every complex has a tow company they use. Step 1 Find the one for your complex, usually on a sign in the parking lot. Step 2 Be the one to call those fire lane violators in & be sure to introduce yourself over the phone as you do, you had better believe the tow guys will LOVE you personally as it's going to net them untold business. Step 3 say hi to the driver in person when they show up so they'll come to recognize you, then walk away to avoid the neighbors associating you wi

Smooth_brain_genius The best part is she was towed for actual violations, albeit they were pretty minor. Screw you Karen.
